La Finca is the Farmhouse! your cozy home for the week.
Community
A lot of retreats are made up of package deals that have been re-branded and re-sold to you. This retreat is made up of individually and intentionally selected activities and services, all made possible by local families and friends in Medellín and the surrounding areas. We’ve done it this way to build a strong community and relationships that grow over time.
ACCOMODATIONS
Our home for the week is La Finca, the farmhouse, owned by Juan and his family and nestled in the hills overlooking the city of Medellín. Shared and private rooms all connect in the outdoor courtyard, and come together in the kitchen where we’ll share meals and stories. La Finca is comfortable and safe, a beautifully modest and authentic example of Colombian hospitality. It also has a pool for lounging and plenty of outdoor and covered spaces to practice yoga, relax, and gather.
comida
All of our meals are prepared by our family, las cocineras Caleñas, and offer you traditional cuisine choices, including tropical fruits, arepas de queso con huevos, tostones and maduros, organic Colombian highland roasts and agua de panela. Every meal includes a vegetarian option (not always a vegan option though, sorry!). We will also have the opportunity to enjoy meals out on the town.
What You will Experience
01 / Peaceful Lodging
Nestled in the mountains of Itagüí, though a short distance away from the city, it still provides a sense of peace and serenity. La Finca is surrounded by nature and fresh air.
02 / Outdoor Pool
Whether it’s to cool off, sit and read a book, or do yoga. La Finca has a pool that is accessible to us during the entirety of the retreat!
03 / Scenic Views
Each morning you’ll wake up to breathtaking views of Medellín while taking in the sights, smells, and feel of the natural world and greenery that surrounds La Finca.
The integration of the Yamas:
Ahimsa: Non-violence, kindness and compassion. We practice amongst each other and to the communities that we interact with.
Satya: Truthfulness. We are transparent with our community about where our money goes and every year we have honest conversations about how to meet the financial needs of everyone involved.
Asteya: Non-stealing. We do not steal or appropriate. The community dictates how we move through it.
Brahmacharya: Moderation or right use of energy. We plan the week based on energy. We take days to travel and explore balanced with days of rejuvenation on the finca.
Aparighraha: Non-possessiveness, non-greed. We fall more in love with Colombia every time we go and Colombians are the most prideful people I have ever met. They are excited to show you what it means to be Colombian. As you fall in love, you will practice non-possessiveness, and be present to the opportunity to love without attachment to the outcome.
