What We’re About

The retreat for the curious traveler! This is a curated week of yoga under palm trees, homemade Colombian cuisines, daily meditation practices, excursions through the city and the country side, downtime by the pool, free time to shop, get tattoos, go to a dope museum…cooking class on the finca, time to practice your dance moves and Spanish with the family.

This retreat was born from words pana and Prana. Pana is the slang term for your people in Spanish. Prana is the Sanskrit term for the life force that moves through us. After many times in Colombia I had never felt such a strong connection to pana and Prana like I have there. This retreat is planned intentionally to integrate our friends and family from Colombia so that our travelers/our pana- are experiencing themselves and Colombia in the most real way possible.

Where does your investment go?

Our family who is with us for the week- Four amazing women from Cali, Colombia.

Our friends who do our workshops on the finca with us who live in Medellín.

Our driver Juan Pablo who has been with us since the first retreat. He’s hilarious and gets us everywhere safe and laughs at all of my WhatsApp messages.

The musicians who play music on our finca.

Depending on the retreat- others who partner with us!

Our Story

This retreat is made up of individually and intentionally selected activities and services, all made possible by local families and friends in Medellín. We’ve done it this way to build a strong community and relationships that grow over time. Retreats at retreat centers are becoming more and more popular. They can be an amazing way to advance your practice or build bonds within your yoga communities, but Pana Con Prana decided it wanted to provide something different.

Our retreat offers an ability to connect with the people of the country of Colombia. This retreat is done with my aunts and cousins from Cali, Colombia. They live with us for the week. My friends Sara and Danny who live in Medellín help me plan and do our Bonsai Workshop. Maria Luisa helps me rent her family home every summer and her family joins us for dinners and dancing. Juan Pablo has been my driver and you will not understand his importance until you are there driving, but he is my hero. The first retreat he just referred to me as “mujer” and now I am Alison- pronounced -Alleysone.

We travel authentically throughout an area that is becoming globally affected by American migration and a rise in prices that are displacing the Colombian communities. We do this to connect communities internationally, to protect the communities of Colombia and to help you, as the participant, the ability to remind yourself of your power and strength in community.
